GREAT OTHER MOD FRIENDLY CLOTHING BRANDS

Hi - I saw that Modculture prodiced its (Alan Freeman countdown) top 20 mod brands. These varied between the little known (Dr Watson Shoes) the more obvious (DNA) and the boring (Adidas Gazelle anyone? Fred Perry...). To its credit there were 4 makers of womens gear who seemed to be bang on.

But..who else is out there? They don't have to be pure mod, but creating the gear we love ...let me know..I am a collector.  My first not included on Modculture is Tomaso at Pelicano who flies the flag (see pic) , and appears to have Steve White as an ambassador..come on who have you got?

  • In terms of womenswear, there are other brands that also worthy - Marmalade, Madamoiselle YéYé, Queloti, Garage a Gogo, Rasha Swais and our very own Calle Modista. Mod Shoes and Olive Aubrey also do some fantastic shoes for women. Karen Millen, Hobbs and Orla Kiely are more expensive, but well worth investing. Granted I haven't bought from them yet - except Karen Millen - I was already aware of all the brands mentioned.

There could have been a Top 20 of both menswear and womenswear.

    • Too right MG, they could have.. My other half swears by Karen M and Hobbs for some of here stuff as it fits so well.

As for me I like Lancashire Pike stuff. Not overtly mod but with mod appeal. I love the cycling jacket, cut from orginal patterns and made in GB.
