What Gig's Have You Been To?

Couldn't see a thread dedicated to live music.

I went to see The Specials last night at Rock City,Nottingham.  Good gig small venue (about 2500).  Decent atmosphere.  Was almost a very short concert with Mr Hall threatening to walk off after bottles were thrown.  It seems some people just can't help acting like idiots.  Some well dressed folks about too.  I'm always blown away when I see a women skinheads, a male skinhead so what?  But a woman skinhead that takes guts.

    • Along with a couple of good friends I had the pleasure of seeing Durand Jones and the Indications last night in Glasgow. They were absolutely fantastic and go down as one of the best live acts I have ever seen. The musicians were brilliant and Durand Jones has this fantastic voice plus great energy. A special mention to the drummer too who sounds like Smokey Robinson, which is a great thing for me.

A truly wonderful night and after the gig we even managed to have a good chat witn the band and get our albums signed. The only slightly disappointing thing was that the venue was probably only around three quarters full and aside from us three there was only one other person there who would be classed as being into the Mod scene. Maybe the fact that it was a Monday night played a part but such an amazing performance deserved a full house at a much larger venue. Anway, cheers to Kai for promoting them, like him I would say they are a must if they are coming your way.

    • Yes absolutely, Chris! I dare say one of the best Soul acts I've ever seen!

    • They were top notch as far as I am concerned Kai. I really hope they go on to do as well as they should with such talented musicians, great simgers, and great original soul songs too.

    • Fadime and me were there with exactly one other mate from the Cologne Mod scene, Chris. Sometimes I think Mods shun good live gigs unless the band is kitted out by the Modfather Clothing Company and play Rickenbacker Guitars. Otherwise the venue, a rather small club, was packed, though...

  • IL SENATO... italo- british Supermodband featuring Fay Hallam, Luca Re and Andy Lewis. What a blast!!!

    • Nice one Kai....We have shared before our admiration for Fay Hallam, I know who Andy Lewis is,Not familiar with Luca Re..any info?

    • He was the singer with Sick Rose in the 80s, an italian 60's garage punk band, Steve.

    • I'm going to start charging Kai. Either that or take up Yoga, ha, ha ;0P

    • Hahaha cheers Gary!
