What I bought today...

Just thought that I'd start this topic as nobody has [bothered?] to start it yet!

I was in one of my local charity shops today and bought these women's basket-weave, tassel loafers for only $8.50 AUD! Absolutely brill, to say the least! ;-) Now I can wear them with my new trousers from Sportscraft (see link below) and my Ben Sherman boating blazers! They were made by Australian shoe manufacturer Sandler, as part of their "Easy Steps" collection which still exists today. I think these shoes were an absolute find and would make excellent work and leisure (by that I mean dancing) shoes!

I also picked up two of my lay-aways. The first being two pairs of capris trousers - one pair in black and another in navy. Don't let the "capri" style fool you. They actually look like full-length trouser on me. I paid $105 AUD for each pair, instead of $150.

The second lay-away I picked up today was this lovely dress from Target that I purchased on sale a couple of months ago!

Happy shopping my Mod brothers and sisters! Look forward to reading and seeing what you've bought!

  • I was in need of a white or cream shirt rather quickly, a few weeks back, as i was going to a do and only have one other plain white shirt, which was in the wash. Anyway, against my better judgement i ordered a pin through Adam of London number, in cream. I say against my better judgement because i have three other Adam shirts and they are nothing short of a bugger to iron, then as soon as one covers them with a jacket or even hangs them up in a wardrobe they resemble a crunched up crisp packet. The lastest one is no exception, a b**tard to iron and to add to this, it is so paper thin one can see through it. Come on AoL, great lovely quality suits, but awful shirts, about time they used better materials that require less ironing and not feel like tracing paper :-(

    • I'm really surprised Al, especially the fact that the shirt is so thin !

    • It's true though; AoL shirts are impossible to iron and keep wrinkle- free.

    • Gotta get me this one soon!

  • 1960's/Mod-inspired orange dress from Karen Millen via Afterpay with bonus 25% off RRP!

1960's/Mod-inspired red coat and matching skirt, both from Review Australia via Afterpay with bonus 25% off RRP!

1950's/1960's red vintage cocktail dress with a deep neckline and pearl detail from Saks 5th Avenue for a black tie event coming up next month... via etsy.

    • Very nice MG. The lady in the red dress ;0)

    • Thanks Gaz!

I don't normally wear dresses with a neckline as revealing as that, but for a black-tie 'do' at my Club - where some of the scenes of the Doctor Blake Mysteries is filmed - most of my vintage/modern-inspired Mod attire wouldn't work. We have a guest speaker coming in to talk about Australia's involvement in WW1 to mark the start of Heritage Weekend in Ballarat on the 3rd weekend in May...

  • Got several new 45s within the last couple of weeks. Here’s six

  • Anyone been too TK MAXX lately, they've got Bass Weejuns for £32 and under as well as some Penguin and Ben Sherman checked SS button downs.
