What I bought today...

Just thought that I'd start this topic as nobody has [bothered?] to start it yet!

I was in one of my local charity shops today and bought these women's basket-weave, tassel loafers for only $8.50 AUD! Absolutely brill, to say the least! ;-) Now I can wear them with my new trousers from Sportscraft (see link below) and my Ben Sherman boating blazers! They were made by Australian shoe manufacturer Sandler, as part of their "Easy Steps" collection which still exists today. I think these shoes were an absolute find and would make excellent work and leisure (by that I mean dancing) shoes!

I also picked up two of my lay-aways. The first being two pairs of capris trousers - one pair in black and another in navy. Don't let the "capri" style fool you. They actually look like full-length trouser on me. I paid $105 AUD for each pair, instead of $150.

The second lay-away I picked up today was this lovely dress from Target that I purchased on sale a couple of months ago!

Happy shopping my Mod brothers and sisters! Look forward to reading and seeing what you've bought!

    • Bloody hell Alan, if I wear a tie I need a 17 1/2 collar. Nobody believes that till they check with a tape measure. I kid you not !

    • I am naturally a stick insect Andy, my missus`s wrists are bigger than my ankles, I used to box at 10 stone 5 pounds, being 6 feet tall. I found it difficult standing up straight in a strong wind, but as I got older I sort of naturally put on a couple of stones, plus I trained really hard for years, I hover around 12 stone these days, my wrists and ankles have stayed the same though....Ha-ha

    • Al, I'd imagine your wife will be over the moon re your comment about her wrists and your ankles ! Lol ! Harking back to AOL I do think their blazers appear both in cut and quality to be far superior to any others I've seen. I had a few blazers that I sold due to weight issues I previously mentioned. I do have a nice seersucker jacket but I will give thought to next year looking at the AOL blazers. though i'm not that keen on the red or purple  stripes.

    • Yes, I`ll keep that one between us Andy....Ha-ha.  I must admit, I am surprised AoL don`t do plain blazers.

    • The DNA shirts are fitted, rather than slim, in my opinion Scott. Got to admit they are great shirts, I have just taken delivery of another one, in a nice peach oxford, I have around 8 now. Also purchased my first Capirari shirt a couple of months back, which is beautifully made, if on the expensive side. I put a pic of it on "What I bought" thread, at the time.

    • Saw the Capirari Alan -an absolute wowzer - and the roll on the collar -top notch
    • Yes I was quite happy with the Capirari Scott, again fitted as opposed to slim, but I put that down to me having to order a 16 1/2 collar, as I am a slim guy with a bull dog neck......Ha-ha.

    • Going off at a tangent -have you had any dealings with modshopping -if so -service /sizing /quality ?
    • I haven`t Scott, but I think Kai has. I tend to stick with the clothiers who I haven`t had any problems with, as I know what the fit and quality is like. Unless I was buying bespoke, I use Adam of London, as they are a better fit for an older guy like myself, a similar fit to some of DNA`s suits to be honest.

    • Yes, indeed Scott; I got a Paisley Shirt by MS, which is really nice; a Sta Prest that is about the same fit as  other, but 100% Cotton, and I once had a jacket made which didn't fit too well despite individual measurements and also lacked individual details so essential to mod. So for me: Shirts and trousers possibly again, jackets or suits- no.
