Well... I was 11 when Britpop exploded and I was instantly obsessed. Because the brain is so porous at that age I remember every detail- you'd definitely want me on your team in a '90s pop quiz! One thing I didn't give much thought to at the time was the connection with the '60s and mods. That developed later. I've always been drawn to '60s styles (I was rocking a beehive before Winehouse!) and I love 60s girl groups and northern soul. I had a fairly recent realisation that, well, I guess that makes me a mod! Ever since then I've thoroughly enjoyed reading, researching and discovering people with the same interests. The more I learn, the more I love. It feels really good to realise I'm not alone in my obsession with an era that even my Mum can't remember! It also feels really good to have a strong sense of identity. This is what I like, this is who I am. The next step? Make some friends, read some books, get involved! I'm also very interested in the Mod Revival scene, and would love to hear from anybody who lived it. Feel free to get in touch, I could talk mod all day! KATE x
