About Me:

Sixties Mod, lead singer in a soul band and DJ in the 70s. Been a freelance journalist for the last 28 years. Listening to the 300 classic albums of the last 60 years 1952 to the present day - very interesting! In the Countdown - We are @ NINETEEN-SEVENTY-FOUR! Also reading the Roots of Modern Pop and listening to the corresponding tracks on Spotify - historically excellent and the sounds are interesting too. And - A MOD RETROSPECTIVE in music is being enjoyed at present! On my SPOTIFY site - Modernism in music through six decades. Music of the past and music of the present. If you want to know what’s what in the world of mod-friendly music or want to catch up with the latest reviews, you’ll find it all @ The Mod Generation.

Top 5 tunes at the moment:

Ain't That a Lot of Love - Taj Mahal A Piece of Leather - Donnie Elbert I Don't Wanna Discuss It - Little Richard Do I Love You - Frank Wilson Let the Good Times Roll - Bunny Sigler

Vespa, Lambretta or other?

  • Hi Mik,

I was hoping to chat to you about being a Mod in the 1960s.

I work for a TV production company and we're making a doc for BBC4 about British popular music and the youth subcultures that went with it. We want to hear from people that were there at the time.

I'm especially keen to find Mods who were a fan of The Who and The Small Faces.

Please email me and I can give you some more info:

  • Just listened to If You Ask Me (Because I Love You) by Jerry Williams, the first time for years - I'd forgotten how good it was!

  • Thanks Mik for the warm welcome.

Work in Sheffield and live in Worksop.
