Hi Peter, glad to make your acquaintance.
Hello Peter
Thanks for the request, my pleasure.
Belonged to a Modern club in Ilford called The Cubana can't remember where it was or if it survived.
In the Plough in Ilford Lane they used to have a Johnny Dankworth night during the week,it was a spin off from The Marquee where the JD big band played on a Sunday night. That was great, seemed all the sensible people came out.
I think it must have been JD'S sidemen never saw him there. Perhaps he had dropped in for a slash one night and it got its name on the strength of that.
Also worked at Plessey, Vicarage Lane for a while.
Good memories of Ilford.
Regards

Hi Peter! Many thanks for your friend request :)
Thanks for the welcome
thanks a lot peter
peter i absolutely loved your profile story and its as if my family could have wrote it! my dad and aunt grew up in stepney and i only have to imagine what the scene was like from their stories, its really strange as i didnt live with my dad growing up but Mod must have been in my blood because when i did meet up with him again in the early 80's (after years estranged) he laughed at my mod pencil skirt and checked jacket and said i looked like my aunt 20 years earlier! i had no idea they had been mods but i was second generation mod! My brother who was brought up in care was (still is) a skinhead! weird eh!
peter the photo was taken at Ayr Fri st rally this weekend but it is very flattering, you would not have been impressed if you had seen the photos of me on the sunday! i was very ruff!
