You Can’t Sit Down! (Original Mod Club Classics)

Release date: 15th June

The dawn of the 1960s witnessed the development of a dynamic British youth culture that revolved around music, fashion and good times: Mod.

Favouring a mix of black, underground sounds from the US and ska from Jamaica, Mod tastes were fundamental in shaping the British musical landscape for generations to come.
You Can’t Sit Down’ brings together 40 Mod favourites of the sixties scene, compiled by original Mod, Rob Nicholls of the widely respected The Mod Generation site.

Featured across these two discs are artists such as The Spencer Davis Group, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, The Small Faces, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and The Righteous Brothers

  • As someone recently pointed out, there are a lot of these "original mod classic" DVD's around these days, and most of them seem to be just any old crap with a couple of radio-friendly Golden Oldies to give them some plausibility. This lot however looks to me like just what the average mod was listening to from 1963 to 1965 from what I remember. Of course, there were other rarities known only to a few elite Faces, but these were staples that filled the record collections.
